Dear Little Rolls

I grew up in a family with an older brother and a twin sister. We loved when our mother made one particular roll, which we requested on every special occasion. We continue to request them, though we have long since moved away and only come home for visits. We like them so much we named them "Dear Little Rolls."

Green Chili Corn Bread

This recipe originally accompanied Smoked Chicken Salad on Toasted Corn Bread Triangles . The corn bread is great on its own, too.

Toasted Jalapeño Corn Bread

Jalapeño chilies give this a nice spicy kick. An accompaniment to Chicken Chili Verde .

Double-Peanut Double-Chocolate Chip Cookies

The peanut butter in this dough creates a crumbly cookie.

Ginger Shortbread Cookies

These delicate, buttery cookies are nice with a cup of tea or coffee.

Strawberry-Rhubarb Shortcakes

Any leftover compote is great served over vanilla ice cream or frozen yogurt.

Lemon-Anise Pirquettes

Enjoy the crisp, delicate treats on their own or with ice cream or mousse.

Mixed Berry and Pecan Shortcakes

It's so easy to make these processor-quick biscuits ahead if you like. Then reheat, split and fill them with ice cream and berries just before serving.

Almond Meringues

(GERMINUS) Sardinia has many interestingly named sweets, and these cookies called germinus are the most famous of all. They are flatter and chewier than classic meringues and get a crisp accent from the nuts.
