Mid-Morning Fizz

The Mid-Morning Fizz is our take on the classic Ramos Gin Fizz and is our choice for the perfect summer eye-opener. Our variation loses the cream of the original recipe and adds Green Chartreuse for a more pronounced spiciness. It is a lighter but more complex cocktail and loves to pair with traditional brunch grub like croque monsieur, burgers, steak and eggs, and especially French toast. Like all cocktails containing egg whites, the Mid-Morning Fizz requires a long, hard, and steady shake.

Recipe information

  • Yield

    makes 1 drink

Ingredients

1/2 ounce Green Chartreuse
1 ounce club soda
1 3/4 ounces Martin Miller’s Westbourne Strength 100-proof gin
1 ounce freshly squeezed lemon juice
3/4 ounce simple syrup (page 154)
5 drops orange blossom water
1 egg white
1 orange half-wheel, for garnish

Preparation

  1. Step 1

Pour the Chartreuse into the bottom of a Collins glass. Fill with large cold ice cubes and add the club soda. Place the glass in the freezer. Combine the gin, juice, syrup, orange blossom water, and egg white in a mixing glass. Add large cold ice cubes and shake vigorously for at least 2 minutes to make sure the cocktail has sufficient texture and frothiness. To achieve a layered effect, strain carefully over the chilled Chartreuse. Garnish with the orange.
